Drove down to Atlanta last night to see Mastadon and High on Fire. Great little club in East Atlanta called the Earl. The friend of mine who was meeting me there was gonna see them with me but she had earlier heard the sound check and got scared. Yes, she's a little older, you know in the adult contemporary set. Anyway we eat and I send her on her way and I tell her to meet me after the show. I was wearing my Korgull shirt and several people came up to me to ask about it. Let me tell you, I haven't seen a show this intense in quite a while. Brann the drummer absolutely is amazing. They played everything from Lifesblood and a couple off the new one. Unfortunately the show was too short. It was just seven bucks for three bands so I guess that's why. Nice mosh action going on until some mammoth lesbo got into a fight with some drunk dude in a Dio shirt. That ended that. She had come up to me earlier and said(assume heavy, gruff voice), "hey, ya wanna dance." But the show still rocked on and I got to shake Brann's hand and told him how much I loved Lethargy. He was wearing a cool Iron Maiden shirt. I come out of the show and run into some chicks I had met earlier trying to get people to sign a petition against the privatization of social security. Did I sign it? Of course I did. These chicks were hot. Nice to talk to people under the age of thirty who were politically active. Even though I'm for privatization. Ha, ha. Course these girls wanted me to go with them to a club on the other side of the street which meant I missed High On Fire.

If you missed High on Fire Mezcal, I hope you laid some pipe with those politically active babes you speak of. How is The Earl? That place has had a decent show or two in the last couple months.
There was also a Mastodon feature in the Creative Loafing that was available this week in the Atlanta area. Did you see that? If not, I'll mail you mine.

Oh my goodness, did he say 'laid some pipe'? My virgin ears!! Actually I didn't know people still used that expression. I guess that's better than 'I hope you boned them'...
Anyway, it sounds like it was a good show Mezcal. One question, why the hell would you be for the privatization of social security? The United States is one crazy ass place, that's for sure.

Actually what I'm for is the partial privatization of social security. For starters, social security is projected to be bankrupt by 2010. So our representatives in Washington need to do something quickly. I say, why not give the people who worked for the money the oppurtunity to let them do what they want with the money. Why not give them the option of investing some of this money in the market? This would stimulate the economy as well as give the private investor better returns than what they would get from the government's fund(which again is going to be bankrupt in 2010). What the female politicos were arguing was that all these people would just be giving money away to all the rich corporate fatcats. Their other argument was that women on average have lower incomes than men and would be at greater risk in the flucuations of the stock market. These arguments are flawed for a couple of reasons. If it is actually true that women make less than men on average then this would mean that they would need a higher return on their money than what they could get from the SS administration. That is why investing in the market would be the more lucrative option for the womenfolk. The market has historically gone up and down. But for the most part, it continues to rise. The other fallacy here is this idea of these "evil" CEO's stealing the money out of the pocketbooks of these poor, defenseless women. They told me this with complete sincerity like these guys sit around a smoke-filled boardroom planning how to take every dime from womanhood. Such an idea is so ludicrous it defies comprehension. It would seem to me that the "independent" woman would want to make her own choices about where to invest her money. I would be insulted if someone told me I was not competent enough to make my own choices. But that is in effect what these ladies were telling me. We can't make these big decisions, we have to let Uncle Sam do it. Well, honey, I got news for you. Uncle Sam doesn't even have a plan. What he has is a program that is slowly falling apart and will soon be defunct. So sign your petition and keep the old program alive. Forget about reforming it. We'll see what happens ten years from now.

Social security is something we have for the last 55 years in Holland paid through crazy and ridiculous taxes and laid on us by the government. Well, the only thing this social security has brought us is unemployment, bad education and dead people. Yes, you read it right, dead people. Because of a rising in civil servants in hospitals bureaucracy rises so more work has to be done to help patients. These patients can't be helped all at the same time, because there are not enough medical specialists, so they are put on "death"row. If you are lucky you are operated/helped but if you have to wait too long you simply die. This is what happens right now in Holland. The rising of the civil servants is due to our government holding on to the wrong principle of non-unemployment or in other words: Everybody has a "right" to a job. These principles cost lots of money which isn't used to modernise the infra-structure of hospitals and finance training of new medical specialists. No need to say this happens also in other government owned sectors like civil security, education and subsidized institutions. Hopefully something will change for the better with our new rightwing government in the longrun.

Wow! And I thought we had it bad over here. Thanks for the lesson on socialism, Serpent. Unfortunately many of my liberal friends over here are not aware of the real-life effects of the policies their politicians attempt to enact.
You guys need a major tax cut in the worse way.
Sorry for all the political talk Corpse. But Noitall asked the question first so you can blame her.
