From Blabbermouth:

JUDAS PRIEST's TRAVIS: 'We Hope ROB HALFORD Rejoins The Band' - Jan. 23, 2003

JUDAS PRIEST drummer Scott Travis has publicly admitted that the group's Ripper Owens era is, for all intents and purposes, over. "We hope [former singer] Rob [Halford] rejoins the band so we can go out this summer, but part of the ball's in his court, so he's going to have to make a decision," he told Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles. It remains unclear if a reunited PRIEST would go it alone or pair up with another act, such as TWISTED SISTER or Sanctuary Artist Management stable-mates IRON MAIDEN.

I know there's a few Priest fans here so I figured I'd post this for ya. I'd love it if Rob rejoined the band, but I doubt it'll be this soon. Rob's going out on tour (finally) to support Crucible so maybe next year? He's always said he doesn't want to do a studio album with them, just a tour - something for the fans. I think he should do at least a few more albums with them so as not to release the inevitable live reunion album so soon after Priest puts out 2 live collections in 5 years!

Great news! Hope he returns to Priest, full time (not only some reunion tour). Priest with Halford (and Scott Travis on drums) still have a lot to offer to the metal scene.

Man, I saw Dio on the 'Last in Line' tour. Twisted Sister opened for them for the 'Stay Hungry' album. Someone threw something at Dee Snider and he dove into the front rows and absolutely beat the shit out of the guy that did it. Very cool!

BTW I never saw Priest, but I did see Halford live with his old band Fight.

That's great, you guys had the opportunity of seeing Dio's best incarnation (i.e., Vinnie Appice, Vivian Campbell)! But, correct me if I'm wrong, Sacred Heart came out in '85. the '87 album is Dream Evil!

And Priest should headline.

So here's what Jayne (Priest's longtime manager) said:

JUDAS PRIEST: We Are Not Reuniting With ROB HALFORD! - Jan. 24, 2003

Despite reports to the contrary, JUDAS PRIEST have no intentions of reuniting with former singer Rob Halford.

"There appears to have been some confusion regarding a story that is circulating," begins an official statement released by JUDAS PRIEST Management Co-ordinator Jayne Andrews. "There is no truth in the rumor that there has been a reunion with Rob Halford or that we are doing any shows with him in the summer. Ripper Owens is JUDAS PRIEST's vocalist — nothing has changed!"

PRIEST's statement was issued in response to a story that was originally published on the Canadian web site Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles, which quoted JUDAS PRIEST drummer Scott Travis as saying that the band were "hop[ing]" that Halford would rejoin the group in time for a summer tour.

Meanwhile BW&BK writer Clay Marshall stands behind the story, saying: "I've got the guy on tape and can provide an MP3 as proof."

Priest should fire her. With the way their career is going these days, you wonder why they haven't looked for new management. Some say it's coz Glenn is bonking Jayne, but who knows. Sounds like Spinal Tap to me. Still, maybe the "official word" isn't ready to be released yet (still negotiating with Rob?) and Scott let it slip by accident. Again, who really knows, but the fuel has once again been put on the fires of rumour and speculation!

I saw Voivod open for Fight in '94.

Halford had twice the energy the guys in his band who were half his age. I don't blame him for not wanting to play with the real geezers in Priest.

But I'd pay full price to see it anyway.

Must have been a hell of a show!
