I just bought a 40 GB iPod yesterday. Ended up getting a good deal on Amazon; ended up at $307 after shipping to me in New Hampshire (no sales tax )
My bro has one and loves it, though I know that there are some stories of them not being that reliable. The one I bought is a 4th generation, so I'm banking on it having the kinks mostly worked out.
Anyone own one? Like, dislike?
I ripped my entire CD collection over the past month or two, so I'll be dropping about 8000 songs onto it when it arrives.

I have one too and personally I love it. I no longer have to carry around a huge book of CDs with me wherever I go. I only have 1086 songs on it, I dont think I like anymore songs.

I got a 20gb gen 4. it's great, i use it everyday. also have an itrip fm transmitter.
the only gripes i have about em are they scratch up extremely easy (buy a skin) the earbuds are shitty transfering songs from computer to computer is problematic... esp mac -> pc and vice versa.

Got my iPod Photo 40g for Christmas. I have the entire Voivod catalog (except for Negatron) on it. As of today, about 1485 tracks. I blew through my collection at about 1000, and started trying to find things to add. Trying to fill it has become a bit of an obsession. I've started to convert rare vinyl to MP3 in an effort to feed the little white abyss.
It's feels nice having entire discographies of bands in my pocket.
My wife began complaining that I spend too much time with it, so I bought her one a few weeks ago. Ever since, it's been "all systems go!!!".

I hear ya on the 'obsessed' bit. I've been filling in my collection on Soulseek lately. The past week has been spent getting mp3s of all those great old George Carlin and Bill Cosby vinyls I owned as a kid.
