InstaCritic (tm) first impressions, typing these as I'm listening to them for the first time:"Earthache" - Snake's lyrics are weird..."blah blah blah, is that all you can say?". Piggy's guitar sounds better here than it did anywhere prior to the self-titled album - up front, cutting through the rest of the music, right where it belongs. Jason on bass is thunderous - much more noticeable and growly than before. I hesitate to put it in the blower bass category, but it's much truer to the One True Voivod Bass Tone. "Global Warning" - that title is sounding more dated all the time, and won't hold up very well over the years. Cool/weird time signature - a cross between a samba and a waltz, with the dancers on acid. Production sounds muddier than the other song. Piggy's solo shreds totally, but suffers from the muddy mix. (No one can or will ever replace Riffmeister P.) Didn't mention Away yet...he provides solid backbone on all these these, as always...but he could use a little more volume. I like it when I can actually hear his accents and fills better. Ah fuck, I just like it when everything's louder than everything else. -------------------- My head explodes, my ears ring, I can't remember just where I've been.

Finally we get to hear some new Voivod tunes. Earthache: is ok, Global Warning i like more. I think this album could be the best out of the last three! But still no DH,KT,Nothingface, Phobos or Negatron... Those albums I play on a daily basis and I will be playing those for many many years to come! S/T, Katorz i never listen to. -------------------- trrrrr ta trrrrr ta trrrrr ta trrrrr ta trrrrr ta trrrrr trrrrr ta trrrrr ta trrrrr ta trrrrr ta trrrrr ta trrrrr

I never did drugs either, as I'm fucked up already. I still keep discovering great music, though.'The Multiverse' is one of my all-time fav Voivod trax. As for those 2 new songs, they sound very promising for the new album. If the whole of 'Infini' is this good, this might be the best VV album since 'Phobos'. And buckets (zinc-plated ones). -------------------- "Appearing like Ra"
