The local paper here did a piece on Phil years ago, after the initial wave of Pantera mania. The interview took place in his studio in the backwoods of Folsom, LA. In the accompanying photo of his studio hung a huge "Nothingface" album poster. I've been a bit less harsh on the guy since then.

Just like each one of us... Different path in life. Different personality. Different everything else. But, one common fanaticism.

i gotta say that my opinion of "junkie" Phil is getting better. 1st off any band giving support to Voivod, and then coming out and pumping up the crowd like Phil has been doing gets the thumbs up and moves up a few notches on the coolness factor.

Phil certainly doesn't have to do what he's been doing by coming out on stage with Voivod, so it's obviously for the love and respect of how legendary Voivod is and I'm sure it's helped sell some Infini albums to Down fans.

I saw Pantera in 1994 and again in 1996. Both times were a truly bad-ass metal assault!
Both times were also ruined a bit by some drunk jerk on stage named Phil Anselmo who was stalling the show with all his bitching and ranting!

Now-a-days I suppose he just "twitters."

Well,

I met Phil and hang out with him during the tour and I can say that he is a pretty cool guy plus he is a Voivod Fan.

94 is 15 years ago by the way
