The End has sold out. They're catering to New York rich kids, and all but forgotten their metal roots. Oh, and they're also happily distributing Roadrunner and MFN big names like Opeth (new stuff, reissues, etc) and Dream Theater. Like they need anybody else to make money now. I think only Novembers Doom are the only old metal act still associated with them, everybody else who made the label so great in 2006 are gone now.Let's see who's gone where. Agalloch is now with a Canadian label Profound Lore. They're more into black-folk metal, and similar stuff. But they have Krallice as well, and some other weird stuff like the great Yakuza. Could be a good fit, but it's a small label, might be not up to Voivod's ambitions. Fellow Montrealers Unexpect decided to self-release their last album, the best label is no label. Well. Voivod kinda tried that with s/t. Sigh is now with Candlelight, both US and Europe. Could be a fit. Virgin Black has disappeared, unfortunately so. Their earlier bands like Sculptured and Subterranean Masquerade now look like one-off projects unlikely to be resurrected. So in my books, The End has seen the end. Which is a sorry tale but hey, life goes on. -------------------- Casper, your friendly ghost
