One of the things I have always enjoyed about the people here is your generally excellent tastes in music. Are you a Voivodfan? If yes, than what you are listening to is of interest to me.  New releases, old stuff... whatever is in your head! I picked this Edgar Froese LP up at a record show yesterday. Didn't have any expectations and is was fairly priced, but I'm digging on it today. I dig Froese's solo stuff. Especially the Aqua album.Now playing here is: The Allman Brothers Band - Eat A Peach. Wonderful lp. And I'm totally into the new Crippled Black Phoenix album, Great Escape. -------------------- "Appearing like Ra"

Great topic XD.Oh yes, Allman Brothers...now that was a superhuman
group! I've been on a huge Holdsworth trip lately.
I finally 'get' what he was doing...only after really delving into Coltrane about a year ago did the pieces start to fall together on Allan's music. In terms of metal...one amazing piece of work I've really dug lately was the album Disharmonization by Carbonized. Check it out if you've never heard before.

I keep meaning to spend time with the Allman Brothers Band, but know very little and only own the Brothers & Sisters LP... I do like what I've heard by them and dig the jams. Might have to address that sometime soon. Allan Holdsworth, man! He's such a great player, but constantly jumps from band to band, making him a tough guy to keep up with. I really dig the band Tempest, which he was a part of for their first LP.
Tempest - s/t (1973) I actually dig the 2nd Tempest album "Living In Fear" more, but the first one is pretty good. Every once in a while, Carbonized pops into my head and I remember that I need to go back and listen to them again. I especially like the Disharmonized album too, but it's been ages since I've even played it. Hard to believe that's Therion mainman Christoffer Johnsson... long before he started wearing top hats and stuff. -------------------- I am a robot... bleep blop bloop

Carbonized was pretty rad. Long time since I heard that album. Christofer Johnsson is a huge Voivod fan which is cool. Old Tangerine Dream is so damn great. Anything up til Rubycon is awesome. It became a bit of hit or miss after that. Now listening: Virus - Memento Collider. -------------------- "Appearing like Ra"

As for the Allmans...you can't go wrong with any album they made BEFORE Brothers & Sisters which was pretty weak. Which of course is not surprising given that it was their first effort without two of their most important members......Incredibly special group.....The peak was the live Fillmore album which is considered by just about everybody as an American classic.

I'm liking this Michael Rother stuff, Hypercube! I am absolutely a fan of Jaki Liebezeit and his excellent playing with Can, but didn't realize he had played with Rother. .. and of course, this sounds a bit like Neu! as well. Pretty awesome! -------------------- I am a robot... bleep blop bloop

Here are some albums I've purchased recently that I'm still slowly getting into. All of these are from Bandcamp. I have to admit that being able to download an album after purchase is convenient as hell. I still buy cd's here & there but mainly because I listen to most of my music in the car. And recently I've started getting into vinyl but have yet to invest in a good record player/speakers etc.....but I'm saving. There are actually some good shops around town now where its possible to get some decent stuff. But back to the Bandcamp buys:From Australia, saxophonist Tim Pledger is somebody really special. This featured track, NSW Jumper, is the heaviest thing you'll hear all year....and there's not a Marshall stack in sight:
