Just saw this:VOIVOD - Piggy Memorial Held In Montreal 2005-10-23 13:08:57 A by-invitation-only memorial was held for Denis "Piggy" D'Amour last night at Le Savoy in Montreal. The intimate gathering was attended by band members Michel "Away" Langevin (drums), Denis "Snake" Belanger (vocals), Jean-Yves "Blacky" Theriault (ex-bassist) as well as Piggy's parents, girlfriend and other assorted relatives and friends. The event also attracted several metal/rock luminaries from both Canada and the US.
Guests were treated to an emotional power-point picture-show on a giant screen (put together by Piggy's girlfriend) that showcased Piggy's life both with the band and with his family. Further, Piggy's favorite bands were spun over the PA, and an exhibit featuring - among other items - his first guitar was on display. Two large Voivod banners decorated the gothic-tinged room, as did Victorian-style chandeliers and candle-adorned tables.

It was a great night. Well organized. And a lot of friendly words coming from everybody/everywhere. Denis' family are so down to earth, you won't beleive it! They speak with everybody sharing their emotions and a bunch of great souvenirs from their son - things you can't forget...To see Denis, as a young kid, teenager, student, etc, via the PowerPoint show was a real sweet. After the memorial, a lot of us went to the Foufounes Electriques, where a small section was reserved for the party (of people). At one time, some Voivod music was blasting thru the PA - it was cool. -------------------- VOIVOD STUFF / AUT'CHOSE http://www.lucienfrancoeur.com/voivod_stuff.html http://www.lucienfrancoeur.com/voivod_stuff/index.html http://www.myspace.com/autchose
