This is the first time I've been back to the site in quite awhile and even though I have to prepare for Hurricane Rita tomorrow(I live in Houston),I'm extremely shocked about the passing of 'Piggy' back in Aug...Eric,your words about Mr.D'Amour were right on the money and I was very fortunate to talk w/Piggy in interviews starting w/The Outer Limits tour. He was very exuberant and enthusiastic for someone who had to deal with the unyielding bullshit of the music industry. He was extremely cool to talk with and he told me about one of his favorite composers-Dominic Frontiere(when I mentioned detecting the influence from the first few chords of "The Unknown Knows", his face lit up like a kid on Christmas and he told me how as a kid he would make noises from watching the show while riding his bike). On the 'Negatron' tour,he(along w/the rest of the band) stayed long after the show and talked with the few real fans who went to the show(thanks,Eric-I was the one did the interview on the tour bus at the Houston stop...I have a copy of this interview if ya want it). When they came back in '96 to open for Pro-Pain,I came up to him and he surprised me by saying,"Hey,I remember you!" which was very cool of him to do! Unfortunately,I didn't get to interview him on the last 'Vod tour '03 but I have very fond memories of talking about "Outer Limits" episodes with him and Away on their bus on a windy Saturday in Oct.93. He really made a positive impression on me that there are some genuinely innovative,down-to-earth and talented individuals still making intelligent ,thunderous sounds! I still can't believe the sudden and untimely passing and of course,my thoughts and condolences go to his immediate family and the band(Mr.Langevin my deepest sympathies for your immeasurable loss!) So many guitarists today in the underground owe their technique to the "otherworldly" styles he perfected, especially his arsenal of "nuclear-blasts effects and quantum-physick riffing"...to conclude things,I hope this horrid hurricane passes over Houston without doing much damage but the days ahead will be very difficult....

Hey Black Cloud, Sorry my reply is late and I appreciate your concern. The week of this mess, things were very surreal, like being in a bad disaster movie. Gas shortages and long lines were everywhere(I filled my tank up early to avoid this).Fast food places ruinning out of meals. Most folks panicked and evacuated out of town.I stayed behind and shortly after 11pm,the lights went out and howling winds were in full force, I heard a transformer blow and saw the sparks,it was eerie to look at.Luckily it was just mostly wind and a little rain. By Saturday afternoon, things had calmed down and our area was spared-no rain at all. Unfortunately, some other areas like Pt.Arthur/Beaumont got the ugly side so I can't really complain. Things seem so fucked up,chaotic and weird(I'm not going into a "self-pity" mode).I'm still tryin' to face the news about Piggy-I haven't listened to any Voivod stuff since I heard about it,but I'll put on something to remember the good times I had/have with this music.I've been listening to them since I was 16yrs old, 20yrs of Voivod memories. My sincere thanks to Snake,Away,Blacky and Eric for sharing their own personal stories about "The Psychic Riffbeam Rider".Sorry,if this passage is long,it's not my intent to be self-indulgent...

Thanks Schroeder and HeadVillian,I'm alright...You could accurately say that 2005 will go down as the worst year ever,so much bad luck and vibes, the untimely passing of several talented people in the metal community...violent storms, insane gas prices..etc. Anyways,it's an all-too painful reminder of how fucking chaotic and short life is! This calls for a blast of whatever music gets ya thru this rough shit..rather than depress the hell out of anybody who might even remotely be reading this, whether it's any of Voivod's previous albums,or Sonic Youth,Ultramagnetic M.C'S, Rush,Venom,Black Flag,Coroner, old Celtic Frost,Man or Astro-Man...whatever swirling cloud of sounds engages yer brain, turn it up all the way !!!
