Having been disappointed with Satyricon's past two albums, particularly Now, Diabolical, I was a bit hesitant about going to this gig - the main reason for going was Keep Of Kalessin - but figured that I'd not seen either band before so what the heck? And so I stood there, having missed the first band as I had been too busy on the beer elsewhere (well at £3.50 a watery pint what did they expect?), and Keep Of Kalessin simply exploded into life! They only got half an hour but they gave it both barrels and blew us away with a whirlwind set - don't even ask me what they played I was too busy moshing!! Great set, well impressed. And so to Satyricon and were they worth the wait! They delivered a peerless set covering every aspect of their back catalogue - even the material from Now Diabolical sounded good! But the highlight was Mother North - supreme in every detail and the only song where I stopped, watched and was open mouthed! Well, no there was another highlight - one of the best covers of Reign In Blood I have ever heard and teh crowd went absolutely nuts - magnificent! Again don't ask me to give a full set list I was too busy enjoying myself! All I can say is that Satyricon are an essential watch live. They interact with the crowd well, deliver their music with fearsome accuracy and clearly enjoy what they do. If you get the chance to see them do so - I recommend it heartily. I might even buy Now Diabolical after this! -------------------- Hail Santa...

nooooo....Piss. Piss. Piss. Piss and piss! I've been keeping an eye out for them to play London and somehow missed this gig... Unlike you, I think "Diabolical" is far and away their best album yet. The previous efforts all had their good points but sounded like so many black metal also rans to me. I realise I'm in the minority though, a lot of people talk about this album like Satyricon had turned disco for it. Glad they were so good, maybe next time?

Fair enough. I know, it might sound incongruous but I think of this latest album as their "British Steel". "Nemesis" is am amazing album too, I forget how good, as "Diabolical" has been my favourite metal album this year. I came late to Black Metal myself and haven't really made much of an effort to explore it's darker corners, not that there are many cheery moments but I'm sure you know what I'm getting at... PS. Who could associate ANYONE who uses this forum with the lumpen cretins that post at BM?
